BE A PART OF PRIDE

A Picture’s Worth A Thousand Words

“Where did you get that photo taken?”

“Adam Bouska took your picture?”

“That is SO cool.”

A few years ago, this writer was whisked across West Hollywood by a friend who was visiting from out-of-town for Pride that year. We both took part in the famous NOH8 movement/photo shoot, and ever since, these are the sort of recurring questions she hears, anytime someone sees the trademark brightly lit, high definition images of her in a white shirt, mouth covered in silver electrical tape with the black-and-red NOH8 temporary tattoo on her cheek.

The questions happen so often, it seems like a PSA to post the info. So, here goes:

Where To Go To Get All The Info

If you’re interested in being part of Adam Bouska’s NOH8 campaign, sign up for the newsletter through his website. You can track what dates he’ll be in various cities - hopefully even yours! But, just to make it extra easy for you, here is a link to the events page on the NOH8 site, too. A quick scan should tell you what Bouska’s shooting schedule looks like for the next few months.

To be clear, as cool as the pictures might be (and, yes, they’re really cool), it isn’t just the flattering photos that make these shoots so special. The images are part of a campaign for equal rights. Or, as they say on the site: “The NOH8 Campaign is a charitable organization whose mission is to promote marriage, gender and human equality through education, advocacy, social media, and visual protest.” We think that makes the people in the pictures look even prettier.

Be Part Of The Pride

As part of the movement, the NOH8 site welcomes people to send in their own, homemade NOH8 protest pictures, as well as stories about why participating in the project is important to them. It’s a way for every person to stand up for their life and their love; a way for every voice to be heard. Finally. Almost causes shudders of a non-camera sort.

If you’re looking for another way to show off your pride, the CARD.com LGBT Pride Prepaid Debit card makes a statement every time you swipe. It’s easy, it’s convenient, it proudly displays a symbol of your love and lifestyle - and it can be used anywhere Visa is accepted and comes with NO overdraft, late or penalty fees, NO minimum balance, access to ATMs worldwide and FREE direct deposit.

So much to feel good about!
