Nothing else matters in American governance than to be able to protect the interests of the American people. The US Constitution's preamble states the purpose of the formation of government: which is to protect the Union and lookout for the welfare of the nation.
What we are witnessing today is plain treason in the Tea Party lead GOP House of Representatives. These renegade neo-confederate know-nothings have now placed our country's financial security at risk by letting our nation go into default. Their petty non-sense and incoherent demands have taken the country to the brink of catastrophic economic failure. This is not because we don't have the money to pay our bills but because we are NOT willing to pay them, for which we think that is even more embarrassing and humiliating to many Americans as we would be blame for the biggest world depression the human race has ever seen. These depressions in the past have given us the rise of fascism and dictators like Hitler and Mussolini.
We cannot afford to let this disaster unfold one inch. We call on the President of the United States to immediately declare all functions of government essential given the fact that we are still at war in Afghanistan. The President has legal authority to do so and we stress that it is imperative that he uses such authority being that the GOP is unwilling to do their job. Opening our government and paying our debt are non-negotiable functions of government.
We also call on the President to declare previous legal interpretations of a vague unrelated law by the Carter administration as null and void. The President must adhere to the 14th Amendment of the Constitution, section four which declares clearly that our national debt "shall not be questioned."
Mr. President, we know that the GOP is a house filled with dysfunctional people, it is now your turn to show leadership and strength. We encourage all American citizens to lobby the White House for a Constitutional resolution to this crisis.
Threats of impeachment can only be taken with a grain of salt from a political party that has willingly declared war on the American state, its people, and its financial security.
President Obama must obey the Constitution and stand up to this insurrection. The fate of the nation depends on it.
